Problems after partial colectomy

I had a partial colectomy 5 weeks ago, ended up with C-diff.  It seems better, but I have sudden urges to have a bowel movement every time I eat, like instantly.  God help me if I am not near a bathroom.  I have lots of mucous still, but no diarrhea.  Is this due to the colectomy, and will it get any better, or is it still the c-diff?  I did a round of Flagyl, and it did lessen the diarrhea.  Thanks for any input.  This is making my life difficult to work as I am driving pretty much all day.

I agree with CalGal, sometimes it takes a few rounds to get rid of C. difficile.. it doesn't go away easily and you might need to retest but another round of flagyl and avoiding fats like milk and cheese for a while should help.  Probiotics especially after your Flagyl round if you go back on :S

In addition to Morecambe's good advice, I'd like to suggest that you check back with your doc about the C. diff. In some cases a single round of flagyl does not knock out the infection and other treatment is necessary. If your doc didn't tell you to have your system rechecked following treatment, make sure that you request it. Tests should be done in triplicate - not just a single test.

Increased BM's are common after a partial/total colectomy.  Try increasing the level of fibre in your diet as a way of making your BM's more muddy/sludgy.

Fresh pulverised fruit to which bran has been added may help.  Also fresh pulversied vegetabl;es + bran.  Wholemeal bread, no junk food, colas etc.
