thanks and my family dr. explained about the constant dripping of bile into my intestines causing irritation. Now I have another issue that has me so upset. I was in the hospital in March for a back problem, they manage the pain when its unmanageable at home. Well I never have had a complaint about that hosptial till shortly after my release. I got sores on my face, my eyes swelled shut, extreme pain in my eye socket, forehead and my jaw. After seeing me my family dr. sent me to the ER for imediate treatment, IV antibiotics, cultures and cat scans. The ER Dr. never did anything my dr. called ahead for, it was finally diagnosed as MRSA, after 3 courses of treatment I am still dealing with it. This is just unbelivable.
If your sent to the hospital for something and they don't treat you I recomend demanding it. ITS YOUR HEALTH NOT THEIRS>
Many people have diarrhea after their gallbladder is removed because they are not able to process fats the way they did prior to the surgery. In a number of cases, following a low fat diet helps quite a bit.
The substance your doc gave you is a bile-binding resin and it should help with the diarrhea. The problem can result from a number of things. On is that you may be experiencing 'unregulated' output of bile into the duodenum. It means that the muscular opening (sphincter) is not being controlled as it previously was and the constant bile flowing through the bowel is causing irritation. Another complication is that the irritation and lack of adding bile to the fats you take in results in fat malabsorption and diarrhea.
Unless the sphincter regains it functional ability, the problem may continue. In some people it does, but not in everyone unfortunately. So a low fat diet and the use of the bile-binding resin can be very helpful.
