Disphagia

I am 39 years old female. Pretty healthy was slightly overweight after my last child. About 3 weeks ago I got a strange feeling in my throat after a meal. Like the food is not moving down and a strange pressure which shows to be a  burp which was stuck. After several burps I was feeling better and could breath normally (I can't burp on demand)
Three weeks later I am really bad, lost 17 pounds (now I am 5'6  and 140 pounds ) and can barely even drink water. Went trough several attempts to try to eat but the feeling of chocking got worse and now even when I drink water I need to try to burp to feel well.
Just went to 2 tests  - endoscopy and barium swallow (the barium swallow was only on the thin liquid) Everything is normal. The doctor doesn't see any sign of reflux, Gerd.
What surprises me that nobody is concern that I haven't been able to eat any food and drink about 25,30 oz water a day. I have been trying creamed soup or shakes even ensure but without luck to be able to get it down. I prefer not to eat than the terrible chocking feeling which almost gives me panic attacks. Honestly I feel I should be in a hospital and given fluids but looks like nobody takes it so seriously. (I live in NYC and have good insurance)
please anybody with similar problem? Why this problem with burping after every sip and feeling of heaviness and chocking.
Thank you!!!

Hi there,

I agree with "Patient915" that you should see an ENT Specialist so that he can check for strictures, etc.  Then another thing:  have you had your THYROID checked??? over active Thyriod can also cause these symptoms!

Please let us know how you are doing.
Regards,

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Did these symptoms come on suddenly?  Were you having any symptoms before this started?  I would recommend that you see a gastroenterologist or maybe and ENT doctor if you haven't already to hopefully figure out what is going on.  Good luck.
