LPR

I have been treated in theUS for many years with a series of drugs for my chronic cough & excesive mucus ,on recent trip to britain a friend recommended an alginate called gaviscon that he has been taking for some months with great succes, i looked into a e-site calledLPradvice.co.uk & it appears that they may have this condition sorted out...any opinion regarding this treatment here in the US??

You're just going to make the condition worse with alkalizing drugs. 90% of the time GERD is due to pressure in the stomach from carbon dioxide excess. Where does the CO2 come from? Bacteria! They eat carbs, turn it into CO2 and all that pressure leads to... you guessed it, reflux! They alter your body and make you not produce enough stomach acid, this is how they thrive! Acid kills them! You need MORE acid! You can mask the symptoms and worsen the condition with acid suppressing drugs, or, you can eliminate the problem entirely with Betaine-HCl supplements. The choice is yours! ;)

(Take digestive enzymes, probiotics, and magnesium too.)

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  LPR is just a type of GERD and gaviscon is one of the many medications that can be taken for gerd.  Do you have any GI symptoms or have you been diagnosed with GERD?
