Right side pain (moderate to severs)

Hello, I am 56 years old. My right side has hurt since I was about 23 years old. I had a sever pain went to the emergency room. I was put in the hospital for several days. I was told a cyst on my right overy had ruptured. The pain continued. Then I was told that I had a kidney stone and I had to have surgery for that because it would not pass. I thought maybe that was the cause of the pain. Then I had gone to the hospital with sever pain on my right side and they said it was my appendix and it had to come out. So I thought finally the pain will go away. (I also had problems with what I thought was IBS) My father and my grandfather both passed from colon cancer. A few years ago I had sever pain in my upper right side and it was all I could do to get to the emergency room. They said I had gal stones and my gallblader was infected and they were going to have to do surgery. That did not help either. I have had several colonoscopys and was told I have diverticulitus (sorry for misspellings). When I am stressed out, get upset, and nervous my right side hurts really bad. The doctors continue to give me medications for the pain but no one can really tell me what is going on. I get bouts of diarrhea and I am always taking medications for that. Can anyone give me any idea's. Seems like I try everything. I am due for another colonoscopy this month. Hope you can help! Thank you!

Thank you for your response. I get the runs all the time also. When I am stressed or upset my right side hurts so bad. When I eat out I usually have to take something for the runs because I am in the bathroom within half hour to an hour after I eat. I was told I have diverticulitis years ago after a colonoscopy. No one will tell me why I hurt so bad. It has always scared me since my grandfather and father both passed from colon cancer.  Thank you for letting me know it helps to know I am not the only one out there.

Could be IBS. I know mine acts up more when stressed or when I try eating something I haven't had in a while.
Since you've had almost everything removed from your body, there isn't much left.
My mom has diverticulitis and she has the same complaints as you. Her gallbladder was removed years ago because they thought that was the problem..it wasn't. Took them about 17 years to finally diagnose the diverticulitis.
She has the runs all the time, especially if she eats outside of her home, eats beef, etc.
She always seems to have a bowel movement between 5 minutes to 2 hours after eating.
If she goes out to eat she makes sure to eat at self serve type places so that the food is already paid for and she can run out the door to get home to her toilet. lol
Hope this helps.
