Enemas

I was diagnosed with Pelvic Floor Dysfunciton and slow transit. I am trying to do enemas every day but they don't seem to work very well. Once I put the enema in, I can't get the 'urge' to expel it... so it just sits in me. I can try to shove out all the water but it's never easy. Any way to get around this?

Btw, I just use salt water - could this be the reason? I'd rather not use anything that might irritate my colon.

Yep and this helps quite a bit, to draw water into the colon. I don't have a problem with hard stool though - they are almost always soft. I have a hard time fully expelling all the stool that is there. I also have very weak peristalsis - so the 'urge' to go isn't very strong. It tends to get strong and then leave as I get to the toilet.

I have never had to do enemas, but have you tried adding magnesium citrate to help your muscles?
