Unable to fully empty bowels

I've never really had a problem with passing stool, I try to drink a lot of water and I avoid fatty foods and stick to vegetables and carbohydrates. The only times I have problems is during the holidays, because that is when I stay home most of the time and I don't move a lot which gives me constipation. Recently, I've been able to have pretty normal poops, but there's still some left that I CANNOT remove for the life of me, no matter how much I strain. The day afterwards I went to the mall so I thought that my bowels would go back to normal because I walked quite a lot. When I got home I really needed to go and I passed a lot of healthy stool but I still felt stool that wasn't coming out at all. It's really annoying because I never feel refreshed or complete after using the restroom. Any advice? The only thing I can think of is moving more but like I said I went to the mall and moved a lot but it still felt incomplete. I did try a laxative but that didn't help.

Blessings to you too! Honestly, I've never heard of epsom salt but I'll see if I can buy it somewhere. Thanks for the reply!
