Sudden onset of burping after every meal

I am a 39 year old female, 5 foot 2, 120 pounds with no health issues.   My entire life I have only burped twice - except as a baby and even then my mom says she had a hard time getting me to burp.   About 3 weeks ago I started burping after every meal and continue to do so for a few hours after.   Altough based on the experience I had with the only 2 burps I've ever had (after taste, more force, etc)  I wouldn't classify it as burping necessarily - this is just more like large air bubbles escaping through my throat.  I have no other accompanying symptons, have not made any dietary changes, and have tried GasX which does not help.  Any suggestions as to other OTC medications to try before going in to see a doctor?

It sounds like the beginnings of GERD.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I would recommend that you see a doctor before trying any other OTC drugs.  You doctor may tell you to take an H2 blocker or a PPI, or to change your diet (for example: to avoid lactose).
