Is it frequent that even after his procedure he'll continue to have these attacks of pain? We are both getting tired of spending our nights in the ER. He was fine for several months after the ERCP and we both thought it was fixed. Before the ERCP he was in the hospital several times a week with pain. They have tried anti-spasm meds several times, and they don't seem to help, thats why I think it could possibly be a blockage of some sort. I had read several times that scar tissue can cause the pain to come back occasionally, but the doctor that we saw claimed that it would take serveral years for there to be any complications from scar tissue since it takes time for the scar tissue to form. We just want answers, and a solution.
Unfortunately, SOD can continue to occur and there may not be an easy way to solve the problem. The doc may suggest trying some anti-spasm meds to see if that will relieve the discomfort if it's due to spasms, but if there's a true blockage and ERCP may have to be done and a stent placed.
