pain in left side

pain in left side

I am being treated for ibs, stomach and esophagal ulcers, severe internal hemmorrhoids, had colon polyps removed, and acid reflux. I have moderate to severe pain in left side from bottom of ribcage down to waist. Am being told it is from ibs. Am currently taking skelaxin, dicyclomine, benefiber, mirolax, pantoprazole. Left side pain is not improving and may be getting worse. Need answers to this pain. What could be the cause?
Thank You

Are you constipated?  I have a similar set of conditions and found out I had a bowel obstruction in the same place (higher up on abdomen--left side). You could try purchasing a fleet enema if constipation is causing the pain. You will know if the pain goes away after enema.

Also, I had a colonoscopy in which my intestines were bruised on the inside. I felt like I had been trampled by a herd of cows for a few weeks afterwards?

I have times of constipation but not always. I also had colonoscopy in which they removed precancerous polyps. I was also told the intestines on my left side were tightly compacted.(whatever that means). They are not offering any other help for the pain in my left side and are saying that I will have to live with some of this pain. Also will not give me anything for pain that will help. I know there has to be something causing this pain and have even told them that I think they are missing something. I am going to find a new doctor because I am not convinced that ibs alone is causing all this pain and discomfort. It is definitely affecting my quality of life.

It does sound similar to my problem. I ran the gamut of laxatives--tried tham all. Nothing really worked until I went back to good old fashioned Milk of Magnesia. I am from Canada, but they must have it in the US as well. It is over the counter and is an osmotic laxative. The bottle says take 15 ML for laxative affect, but for me I have to fill the little cup that comes with the bottle to the top (60 ML), then you drink a pile of water and within a few hours your system is flushed, literally. I also take Percocet for the pain but being a narcotic, it is constipating as well. So without Milk of Magnesia, I would not have even a semi-normal existence. I hope you can try some. Also when I am totally desperate, I go to the pharmacy counter and request "pico-salax". This is something people use before colonoscopy. However, it does not taste bad. It has a pleasant orange fizzy taste. That will basically melt your feces and have it come out liquid and give you that "cleaned out" feeling.
