When I vomit it is a yellow liquid. I have to fight vomiting every day. I took protonix for a while but I could not sleep. And, donatal (sp) for pain. Now I just take Pepsidcomplete and watch what I eat. Last night was a very painful event. It doesn't seem to be triggered by food or stress, I cut out all spicy food and am trying to eat right. I do not eat meat (never have). It is like one day I was fine and then the next I had all of these problems. I have lost 25 pounds my weight is 106 (am 5'1") it took 3 months to gain 6 pounds. So depressing. Now I am keeping a journal of when the pain occurs - it isn't all of the time but most of the time, or maybe I am just learning to live with it. Oh one thing the last big bout when I had to be hospitalized I lost the feeling in my right hand fourth and pinky fingers. The feeling has come back in my fourth finger but my pinky finger remains numb with a very very slight feeling. Before having to stay in the hospital, I was at the er at least once a month. Thank you.
Different labs can have slightly different reference ranges, but in general, some of the 'overall' reference ranges are:
AP (Alk Phos) U/L (30 to 120)
GGT (Gamma GT) U/L (5 to 35)
LD Lactate Dehydrogenase U/L (100-225)
AST (Aspartate aminotransferase) U/L (5 to 45)
ALT (Alanine aminotransferase) U/L (5 to 45)
Albumin g/L (38-55)
Total Bilirubin - Normal range is 3 - 18 umol/L (0.174 - 1.04mg/dL)
So by these standards, 'things' would be considered normal on the readings you were given. But that doesn't mean that your system is normal. All it means is that the docs can't pinpoint what is going on with the 'usual' methods of quantification and that could make things a bit more difficult. It also means that you're going to have to be more tenacious in trying to get the docs to help you.
The 'location' you mentioned - about 3 inches to the right of the bellybutton - is just about where the entrance of the common bile duct (and the pancreatic duct) is found to the duodenum. And there are people who still have their gallbladders who have problems in this area - or the pain can resemble what someone feels when they have a gallbladder attack and radiate into the URQ - and it could/might be linked to that specific location: the sphincter of Oddi. It's often not found until the gallbladder is removed and the pain continues. But it can be hard to diagnose.
To try to tamp down the pain, have you and your docs tried using any specific anti-spasm meds like bentyl? Have you tried following a very low fat GERD diet to see if that makes a change? If the pain is tied in with the gallbladder, it sometimes responds to a low fat diet, but the change wouldn't be immediate.
When you vomit, are you bringing up bile? Or are you bringing up clear fluid?
I left you a message, but just in case you don't get it my AST (SGOT) was at 37 and my ALT (SGPT) was at 35 Alkaline Phosphatase was at 77 this was during my last stay in the hospital. Stools have not changed. When I vomit it empties my stomache and then goes to uncontrollable dry heaves. I am so tired of this pain and being told I just have to live with it. Thank you.
Have your bowel habits changed? And has the appearance of your stool changed in any manner?
Which liver parameter was '37?' There's more than one they should have measured. And have they checked your pancreatic enzyme levels?
A lot of people can have signs of reflux when a scope is done and not have any of the 'typical' symptoms. It's one of the reasons people should have the scope done early on when symptoms do occur - so they won't find that their condition is very advanced when it could have been (possibly) tamped down, early-on.
When you vomit, what are you bringing up?
