so i smoked weed for the first time in 6 years whilst very drunk 6 weeks ago, hit me really hard and i started to freak out. had a massive panic attack and havent felt right since. ive been having depersonalistaion and feeling panicky. the first 3 weeks was hell and it does seem to be getting better but i still have depersonalisation and wake up in the mornings panicky/anxious. last week i started seeing psychedelic imagery and having weird dreams and also had these weird flashback of my childhood etc. nothing bad or anything. is this permanent? i just want to get back to normal

Hi,
Well, alcohol and weed are both depressants, which wreak havoc on our nervous systems, so it is no wonder you are feeling strange. If you were to keep drinking and smoking ( making it a daily habit ) you probably would have permanent damage of some sort, that is why you should probably quit altogether while you're ahead, or at least cut way back ( limit your use)... Below I have listed links to sites that will give you more info.

Well, let me put it this way, everyone is different when it comes to the topic of nervous system issues. Does anyone in your family suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, or has there been any recent trauma in your life ~ If so, you might want to consider going to a doctor, getting a thorough exam to discuss your recent anxiety, and inquire about anxiety medication.

I quit drinking over a year ago, after drinking on and off over the course of 29 years (and quit weed prior to that) ~ basically I quit both because of the horrible panic attacks I was having, and due to other health related issues.  Fortunately, I haven't experienced any further panic attacks since I completely quit both.
Honestly, if it's causing you further stress, it is worth checking into with a doctor, just for your own peace of mind  :)

hi

thanks for replying. so yeah i took a 6 year break from all drugs. didnt even do that many tbh. just have no idea why i freaked out that night. it just hit me really hard and i havent felt the same since. is this just a temporary thing? its just there in the back of mind all the time and it makes me feel uneasy. i dont think its severe DP/DR just a little. could it get worse?
