Bloating wont go away

Hello,

I took doxycycline (antibiotic) from June of 2012-December 12th, 2012. I went off of it due to the fact that I was bloating and my stool was loose(no diarrhea) and off colored. My doctor told me to take probiotics and if need be start taking the antibiotics again in 2 weeks. I've been taking probiotics since December 12th and the problem still persists. What could be wrong? I thought that maybe I might be lactose intolerant, but I wasn't before? This is super frustrating. I don't want to deal with it anymore! Please help.

Hi there, sorry its been awhile since I have been online, however if your issue has been resolved then disregard this info. The diarrhoea you have can be severe in some people and can persist for some time/months following use of these antibiotics. Did you get any stomach pain or cramps? If so your Doctor needs to change your treatment. This med also causes yellowing of the teeth and sensitivity to sunlight. The yellowing of teeth is a slow onset so may not be noticed with short term use. Please let me know if your situation has improved and if not let me know. Thanks.

I hope your tummy problems are better.  I've been using simethicone  chewable tablets for my "gas" and it really helps.  Walmart sells it under  Gas Relief the equate brand.

your doctor may not prescribe this but dandelion had been suggested as powerful multiple herbal cure whose treatment include digestive issues.

Just a thought - flat ginger ale might help the bloating too.  Ginger root is good for "gas" - but the bubbles aren't.

Thank You, I will consider this. And my Acne is under control, the antibiotics were just used as maintenance.

Gentian Root  capsules from the health food store might help.  Gentian helps the probiotics do a much better job.  You probably still have some yeast or bad bacteria in the gut left over from the antibiotics.  300 to 600 milligrams taken 5 to 15 minutes before meals should stimulate the digestive system.  By the way, in some people Zinc can take care of the acne problem without antibiotics...

Hi there, why did your Doctor place you on Doxycycline in the first instance? This may be a contributing factor and may have caused a side effect common with some anti-biotics.
