What does "lymph node become more vascular" mean?

Found a painless enlarged posterior lymph node Thanksgiving day 2012. No recent sickness or trauma near it.  Saw Doctor end of January. She could feel and see the enlarged lymph node. Sent me to have an ultrasound. Ultrasound indicated enlarged posterior lymph node. She order a second ultrasound for end of February. Results came back as no change in size but more vascular. Asked nurse what does that mean. She didn't have an answer. Doctor has now ordered a ct scan of the soft tissues of the neck. Just wonder what does it mean when a lymph node becomes more vascular, and why would she order a ct scan? FYI: I am 34 year old female, with hypothyroidism with no know cause. No scans were done when discover with hypothyroidism. Was told that it just sometimes happens.

You need the ct scan to determine your cause so they can check the area. Most likely not big deal. Your doctor has to answer your concerns, just call the doctor and ask why the scan was ordered, if it were me i would. Why put yourself through unnessary worrying.
Your just fine im sure.

Hi,
Vascular lymph nodes means that the lymph nodes have blood vessels/ blood vessels adjacent or supplying the node. Such nodes tend to bleed when a biopsy is attempted. You need to ask your radiologist and physician about this in detail. They want to do the ct to see the area in detail, this is a normal course procedure.
