Injury to the ball of my right foot... leading to pain/inflammation to other areas

Hello, I am someone who loves to workout, and I tend to train pretty hard. I'm 31, 6'4" tall, and weigh about 245 lbs, but a lot of that weight is muscle. I've been into body building for the last 10 years or so. I usually run 3-4 miles daily on a treadmill and lift weights about 5 days per week.

A little over a month ago I was doing a jumping program to increase my vertical leap but stopped suddenly because I having some pain in my feet... but more so in my right foot. It wasn't painful but felt an irritation to my arches and the 4th metatarsal (the metatarsal behind the toe next to my pinky toe). I stopped jumping but continued to run as the discomfort wasn't too bad. Well, about 2 weeks later I noticed some pain in the ball of my right foot behind the toe (next to the pinky toe) while I was walking my dog, but it still wasn't too bad. I woke up in the middle of the night later than night to use the bathroom and when I did I noticed it was more painful than before so I put some pressure on the area to see exactly where it was coming from. When I did that something happened and it immediately became more painful, although, I could still walk on it. I don't think there was a pop or anything, but something happened to make it become more painful.

When I woke up the next morning I could barely put any weight on my foot. I actually thought it may have been broken at first, but after I iced it and a few hours went by I could actually walk on it, although, it hurt pretty bad... Both sides of my right ankle began to swell as well.

After a few days, it began to feel better so I took my dog on a walk in the evening. The next morning the swelling and pain came back. I took it easy the next week, iced it, and tried to stay off of it as much as possible until it started feeling better and the swelling in the foot/ankle started going away. I got a little too confident and was playing with my nephews around the house one night and the swelling/pain came back the next day along with some pain in my right hip, mostly the inside of the hip near the groin. I popped my hip back in place as it was definitely out and figured the pain in my hip was due to the awkward walking and favoring my left foot. A few days later I had to do quite a bit of walking... probably 2 miles in all.. Later that day my knee started swelling and became very tender and my hip was still sore. I then got crutches to stay off my right leg as much as possible, but then my left ankle started to swell.

It has been about a week since my left ankle started to swell... I have stayed off my feet as much as possible and have done the RICE method as much as I can... I've been sticking each foot into a bucket filled with ice and water around 8-10 times per day for about 10-15 minutes each. The swelling is beginning to go down in my feet, although, my right ankle is still pretty swollen and my left looks a lot better. My right knee is still pretty inflamed, though. My right knee doesn't hurt or ache... It's fine when it is straight but is difficult to bend. I just noticed my left knee is starting to have some issues as well, although, very slight... Only when I bend it back like I'm stretching my hamstring.

Sorry for so much information but wanted to make sure you knew everything. Do you have any idea what could be causing this????

After doing some research I feel like it could be Metatarsalgia or bursitis in the ball of my right foot, but I don't know what would cause the inflammation I've had in the other areas... I'd really appreciate any help I can get on this. It's now been 3 weeks since the initial injury to my right foot and it seems like it is healing very slow. Thanks for your help!!

We are not doctors on this forum and even if we were, no self respecting doctor would offer up even a POSSIBLE diagnosis without a complete examination. Personally, I can't believe you've spent 3 weeks watching this injury progress and NOT gone to your doctor!
The only help I can offer at this point is to see your doctor  IMMEDIATELY!
