Constantly clearing my throat

For the past several months I have been constantly having to clear my throat.  Before I answer the phone, before I speak to someone or even while talking.  I'm rarely able to cough up anything and when I do it's clear mucas.  Doesn't look like any infection.  I've always battled with Sinus and congestion.  When I was a child I think I was allergic to everything that existed. I have never been a big medicine taker especially on a daily basis.  But now this is starting to bother my wife.  She suggest that I take a daily Sinus congestion tablet or something for my allergies since she thinks it's just my sinuses training in my throat. I find myself gettting choked or strained a lot lately too.  I drink plenty of water.  What do you think it could be?

i have this problem often also. its just like your wife said. infact, i found that it was extremely worse when i smoked.  as soon as i quit smoking, i quit coughing and clearing my throat all the time.  sometimes ( mostly during the pollen seasons and other times when i am around allergens) i still do have to clear my throat a lot, and also find myself swallowing a lot because i feel like something is back there. it can get really annoying.  it also does it when i get nervous, like i know i am about to talk to someone on the phone like a client or something.  it is drainage though. you should either take an antihistamine or try to find your allergen and eliminate it.
