Vaginal itching

I have had vaginal itching for a few months now.  I also have swelling but it may be caused by the scratching, I'm not sure. It mainly occurs the 2 weeks before my period, but goes away during my period and the week after. What is the cause and the suggested treatment?

It almost sounds like this is happening about the time you are ovulating. It could be accompanied by a milky white discharge that turns stringy as time goes on, or not. If this is something that has just started, it would be worth getting checked out but it sounds like it happens at the time of ovulation to me.

It could be just the body chemistry changing if its before your period. Have you been checked or tried yeast infection medication. I once had yeast infection and it turned out to be something much worse(std). I could be bacterial vaginosis. You should go to the doctor.

Sounds like it is related to hormonal flucuations.  Any drainage?

How long ago did you start your period? This could be caused from the natural releases of vaginal fluids. I started my period very young and I had the same issues for about a year until my body evened out. It could be due to hormone fluctuations, laundry detergent, tight undergarments or clothing. Many factors. Good luck!
