I am afraid I have to agree with Caregiver.
ECG's, otherwise known as "Electrocardiograms", can be expensive. I suspect that the doctor wants to put your mind more at ease and is doing this to rule out the small possibility that you could have some rhythm disorder, this can cause anxiety at times.
The most common reason for an electrocardiogram in anotherwise healthy individual is to pay for the doctor's children's summer camp.
Just go for the ECG.
If it does not reveal anything, what I expect, there is no harm done. Just lie on his cough and relax for a few minutes.
Let us know wht the outcome is.
Cheers,
Ger
Did you somehow indicate that you think there is a problem with your heart?
You visited him before and you did not want to let go when he wanted to say goodbye.
He must have some reason for doing this exam, perhaps because of your lightheadedness, perhaps of something you said, perhaps of something he found earlier or perhaps just for your ease of mind.
Why would that need to be done? I booked appointments because I get worried about a lot of things... not asking him to do that!?
During an ECG they put some adhesive electrodes on your chest and measure electrical impulses from your heart. It is completely painless and takes just a few minutes.
It gives a fairly good impression of your heart's condition.
Your doctor will do this to be sure, and make you also be sure, that you are just fine and that there is really no need for anxiety.
