PLEASE HELP!!?? i feel like im going crazy

Hello my name is Mike...for the past 3 months i have been experiencing some weird symptoms that literally has had me out of work..not seing friends..and basicaly disabled in my room. I started to get these sharp quick pains in my head that last only a split second....the pain is triggered if i move my head to fast or even if i hit a bump in the road while driving....also i have noticed that if i tap my jaw with my hand it triggers the same sharp pain that im feeling. As if that isnt strange enough i also have a 24/7 constant feeling of like pressure and dizziness. It gets even worse if i walk into a store or a populated place, i feel like i need to close my eyes and just it down...its extremely uncomfortable. Even when im not out tho the feeling is still here...like i could be sitting at home and its always here..just feels like something isn't right....it makes me wanna shake my head it feels like something is in there that shouldn't be....i find my eyes squinting all the time because of it and my hand always on my head....i went to a neurologist and had an MRI done of my cervical spine and of my brain and both came back normal....i also had blood work done and everything came back normal. Ive seen an ENT, a dentist and a cardiologist also...the cardiologist currently has me hooked up to a heart monitor because when i took a stress test he said i had an irregular heart beat at one point during the test. I have to mention that back in 2006 i took a couple big blows to my head when i use to do boxing. I experienced these symptoms back in 2008 and then they went away. During 2009. 2010, and 2011 i was completely fine and normal. Then in January 2012 the symptoms came back...all of 2012 was on and off..some months i was ok and some i had my symptoms...but in November of 2012 it came back and its now feb 2013 and it just hasn't gone away. Idk wats wrong with me but between the pressure and dizziness feeling plus the actual feeling of physical pain when any kind of vibration goes through my body such as a bump in the road or turning my head to quick or even biting down on hard candy can can set off the split second of sharp pain. I just really need some advice and someone to tell me were to turn to next because im literally falling apart...idk if maybe it has to do with a chemical imbalance in the brain? I also happen to notice that when i smoke marijuana all my symptoms get 100 times WORSE...i smoked marijuana multiple times a week for the past 2 years and i was completely fine...but i now notice that if i try and smoke i feel that sharp pain alot more often and my vision along with the dizziness and stuff is WAY worse....its almost like something in marijuana triggers it and makes it worse and thats why i say maybe its a chemical imbalance or something in that direction. I would really appreciate if someone would review this and please at least point me in the right direction....thank you so much...sincerely Mike

Sorry, I got it wrong thinking that it was your doctor who checked out out teeth and jaw.

You lucky chap having no cavities.  I know nothing about braces so I cannot make any comment on that.  That is a question for your dentist.

With you beeing boxed out about, may be the MRA scan would be next thing to do, if the answer is not in the jaw (LOL, sorry, it just sounds funny the bit about the "answer in the jaw").

I sincerely hope you get sorted out soon so that you can recover and get on and enjoy your life with your friends.

Let me know how you get on

Best wishes.

Thanks you...i think maybe your thinking of an MRA witch checks the blood blow in the head.....i nevr had anything done to my teeth amazingly lol im 21 years old and never had one cavity before...i did have braces though...and this happened once before back in 2008 and that was around the same time i got braces....maybe the braces moved something and is causing this?? But i did see a dentist already who examined me and said he didnt think it had anything to do with my teeth. He did suggest to get my jaw checked though

1.  Check your blood pressure.  That doesn't nornally cause sharp pain, but if it is too low or high, it can make you feel giddy.

2.  If you knew whether you have degeneration of the spinal column in the neck area, that can cause pinching of the nerves and you can feel dizzy.

3.  If your muscles are tight and knotted, that can put pressure elswhere (not sharp pains in the head though).

4.  Because you have been knocked about with boxing, any misalignment could cause you problems.

The other test I was thinking of (but don't know what it is called) is when the doctor checks the blood flow that goes up the artery into the head. It is located on the side of the neck just behind your ears.  People who have strokes normally have a test on this to see if there is a blockage.

Jut to give you an example, say if you have pins and needles at the bottom of your feet that can be caused by pinched nerves in the lower back.  Pins and needles in certain fingers in the hands can mean there is pinching of nerves in the cervical area.

Normal xrays show up degeneration of the bones, but I would imagine that the MRI would show up all soft tissue and bone problems.  To be honest I do not know much about MRIs

I would take one step at a time and definitely see a specialist in dentistry (orthodontic) to check out your jaw.  You have never had any fillings or anything done to your teeth?  Biting down on a tooth and experiencing a lot of pain can mean there is either a crack in the enamal or a problem with a tooth root.  I personally feel that your problem seems to be coming from your teeth and jaw.  I am no doctor or specialist, only have the knowledge through my own experience with regard to the misalignment of my jaw and cracked teeth.

I personally feel that you should be examined by a specialist in dentistry regarding examining your teeth and jaw rather than a general GP.  I hope that they find the root of your problem very soon.

Let me know how you get on.
Best wishes.

thank you again for responding...all the Doctor said was that the mri of the spine and brain came back negative he didnt mention that it showed arthritis or anything. I never had a filling or anything and my doctor did check my bite and said it seemed ok but he also suggested that i get a panoramic xray to see my jaw witch i have to make an appointment to do asap...when you mention if they checked the pressure or pinching or veins what tests have to be done to check for those things other than an MRI?

Hi Mike,
When you say that the doctor told you the MRI of your neck came back negative and normal, do you know what he meant by that?  Does he mean there was nothing untoward for your age, or literally meant that there is no signs of arthritis or narrowing of the spinal cord?

Because you say that your condition is worse when you move your neck, it appears as something is not right whether from the bones, or muscles or nerves.  When you mention that you have a problem when you bite down, I am also concerned that the dentist didn't find the cause to your probem.
Have you had any new fillings or a tooth capped at all around the time that you started to experience these feelings?

The reason I ask is that when I had a gold cap to replace a cracked top tooth when I was 21, the dentist made it slightly too big.  Soon afterwards I had shooting pains into my head and felt very dizzy.  Basically because the new tooth was slightly too big, it actually altered the alignment of my jaw.  He couldn't find what the problem was so referred me to the hospital dentist who found the cause of the problem..  My dentist then filed my lower tooth to correct the jaw alignment.

As you were a boxer and no doubt had a lot of punches to your face, did the dentist check your jaw alignment?  I don't really know much about boxing, but would imagine that having your jaw punched umpteen times could possible push your jaw out of position.  Even the smallest misalignment may be contributing to your problem.  When your dentist checked your teeth, did he also check your bite and alignment of your jaw?

I have osteoarthiritis in my neck that showed up on xray some years ago.  When I get up too quickly as well as going over bumps in the road, I get feelings of dizziness.  The neck also crunches and is quite stiff.  When the dizziness is from moving quickly this is called postural hypertension.

I am a little concerned for you, because you say that you used to be a boxer - have the doctors checked that you have no pressure, pinching or anything untoward with the veins that run to your head?

Do you have a cold or congestion at all?
You say that you had these problems before then it got better and came back again (hopefully they will settle again).  Can you remember what you were doing or not doing that triggered off the condition apart from the smoking?

Anything that makes the condition worse - avoid like the plague.

Let me know how you get on.

All the best.

Sorry to hear you are unwell Mike.

First of all, as you feel 100 times worse when you smoke - then DON'T smoke (anything at all).

As you have had all sorts of tests carried out and they have come back normal.  When they say normal, is the top part of your spine (the cervical area) and the jaw alignment normal, or did they find any osteoarthritis in the neck? That can cause uncomfortable sensations when you are going over bumps on the road.

Have you had your eyes and ears checked out.  Pressure in the ears, even from a wax build up can cause pain and unsteadiness.  Vision problems can also occur from diabetes.  Any damage caused to the eyes through diabetes would be diagnosed through a special eye test by the optician.

I suggest you drink and eat healthily.  Keep of the booze and keep away from and do not smoke.

Let me know how you get on.

Best wishes

Also have you had your blood pressure checked out?
