Period won't stop??

Hi everyone, I'm facing a major problem which is affecting my life in a negative way and I'm really hoping a doctor will answer this question and if a doctor is reading this right now please take a bit of your time to read this as I really need help.
I'm 17 and half, I usually have irregular periods, periods are always 1-3 months late and they always last for 25 days, sometimes a bit less or more than that but recently the period won't stop? It's been a month (31 days)
I got my period after a gap of three months and the blood flow was very light, just spotting, this lasted for 8-10 days and then the period stopped. It started again after 10-15 days, this time the blood flow is normal, not light like before but not heavy either; some clots; now it's been 31 days and the period doesn't seem to be getting any lighter like it does when it's about to get over... It looks like it's going to continue for longer, I mean there's no difference in the blood flow from the day it started till now.
What shall I do? Is this something serious?
Please help me!

You cannot have a pap smear while you are bleeding.  However, a doctor can give you a shot to stop your period.  Also, he/she will probably give you a prescription for hormones to regulate your periods.  Sometimes they prescribe birth-control pills to regulate your periods.  At any rate, your hormones are "messed up".

    Wishing you the best

I would suggest you going to the doctor and having a Pap smear done . It's always best to get this type of issue checked out because minor things that are not addressed, if left to progress can become a big problem you would have wished to have acted in the beginning & avoided something you can't take back in the end ,but definitely could have avoided all together by going on & getting yourself checked.

Dear young lady Lulwathecool, that situation is not a normal. Yet, you don't be afraid about that. It can be if you had or have a stress or lost a lot weight very fast. But it can be more something else, so you need very fast to see a doctor- gynecologist and it is very important. if you can speak with your mom or some else older than you --will be great.

You need to get medical attention as soon as possible.

It is not normal to have such a long bleed and with blood clots.

Is there any possibility that you have been pregnant and you may now be miscarrying?

Either book an urgent appointment with your doctor or go to the ER room at your local hospital.

Best wishes.
