breast growth at 40

my breasts are sore and tender and growing at age 40, why is that?

I don't think it is anything serious.  Best to have it checked though.

Thank you for your comment. It makes sense. No I have never had a replacement therepy. I am going to the doctor and hopefully will be able to post a positive answer for others whom experience this as well.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I am going to the doctor to have it checked out. Hopefully everything will be ok. I am not too worried about it,,,,yet. :)

It is probably hormonal (peri-menopausal or menopausal).  I would suggest having your female hormone labs checked.  

I have the same problem.  I had a hyster when I was 36 and my breasts from time to time seem bigger and tender.  I still have my ovaries too.

It could be the start of the menopause??
I'm giving ideas of nasty surprises, It's not very nice of me. Ha ha!
But I do hope it is not yet!!

Are you on a hormonal replacement therapy? Some women experience tenderness and swelling when you are taking hormones. Tender and sometimes swollen breasts may also be due to water retention caused by estrogen dominance. After hysterectomy, you may have estrogen dominance even with low estogen levels due to a lack of progesterone. Maybe you should talk to your ob/gyn.

No that isnt possible. I had a hysterectomy at 35 but I still have both overaies. Im thinking its a hormonal imbalance but we shall see.
