Hi, I know what u are saying I had my daughter in 2007 c section. Ever since I have have shallow breathing, sometimes can not get a deep breath, at times it feels like I'm breathing thru a straw. I have my good and bad days. I do notice if I gain a few pounds and is bloated I have trouble. It almost feels like my diaphragm is pushed up into my stomach. I'm not sure if it's from child birth, anxiety, or what is going on. I have been prescribe anxiety med Ativan made my breathing worse. It feels internally not in my head. Idk I have been dealing with this for 6 yrs. I also have a annoying sensation in my back right around where the epidural was given. I also have GERD and I do have anxiety that I handle with out med. this feeling is different than anxiety. All the dr say is depression and anxiety bc X-ray is fine. I'm thinking with us had acid reflux maybe or diaphragm does get pushed up into our stomach or lungs. Not to sure if this is possible or the anatomy but I will look it up. Try not to get bloated. Good luck to you! Enjoy ur baby!
My husband suffers from GERD, which studies show is actually a LACK of stomach acid. So we did change his diet and so far, while slow, has helped. In my research for him it showed how just a few of the reasons for GERD can affect overall well being. I am not a doctor but I have done extensive research on GERD for him. Read what these post-partum mom's tried and see if it would work for you. I found that even though I had changed his diet to a more healthy one, things likes seeds/nuts and whole grain bread were bad for those suffering from GERD.
This article is actually in 4 segments but is very informative: http://chriskresser.com/what-everybody-ought-to-know-but-doesnt-about-heartburn-gerd
I do not think the epideral caused the issue, I have had 3 but that was also almost 20 years ago and times and formulas change. I can't see how it would as it only blocks your lower spine.
I could be stress from child birth. All women are different. I wouldn't say it takes a good portion a year to recover though.
I hope any portion helps. It is hard to enjoy the birth and early times of new babies when mom isn't feeling so awesome. Hang in there.
Take magnesium supplements (look for "ate" at the end like magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate). Stress of any type means the body uses up more magnesium.
After surgery my existing magnesium deficiency worsened to severe. Not enough magnesium causes numerous symptoms including shortness of breath, reflux, anxiety...there is a long list of symptoms. Waiting for a doctor to figure it out could be forever. I had to diagnose myself two years after surgery and I had severe symptoms and could of had a cardiac arrest at any time!
I understand what ur going through i had my first daughter in 2010 by c section the doctors had me on magnesium and a few months after her birth i started taking sezures and i was taking them two to three times a week u just gotta keep getting on ur doctors until they do something about it
