I'm so glad to read someone else is questioning why this is occuring. I've noticed for the past several months, when i wake up it seems my tongue is 'stuck' to the roof of my mouth. It isn't uncomfortable, but annoying. I am taking medication for Trigeminal Neuralgia and am wondering it the medication is causing this or is it a symptom of whatever is causing the Neuralgia? It seems like i almost have to 'peel' my mouth from the roof of my mouth - not just at night, but more 'suction' occurs then rather than during the daytime when it occurs.
What are you doing about the mold in the house?
Tongue movements are controlled by the 12th cranial nerve (hypoglossal). The functioning of this nerve is what the doctor is looking for when he asks you to "stick out your tongue". Your condition suggests a palsy of the 12th cranial nerve, which can be caused by many things, from diabetes, to vitamin B-12 deficiency, to an aneurysm. This symptom, juxtaposed with migraine, would suggest an MRI would be appropriate.
