Welps

From time to time my husband gets a welp or 2 on different areas of his back, shoulder, or chest, that are about a 1/2 to 1 inch in length and not very wide, and itches.  Usually goes away in a day or two, sometimes less.  This started about a year ago, with several of these on his back.  They lasted several days, and all we could do to help relieve the itching was to soak a warm cloth in salt and lay it on his back.  Now he gets just one or two of these, but not all the time.  What is it?

Tide detergent is well known for causing skin irritation, especially where the clothes sit continuously against the skin, like the shoulders and upper back. Try a detergent for sensitive skin with an extra rinse on the washing machine cycle to see if that helps.  You'll have to re-wash or just thoroughly rinse all currently clean clothes before you'll know if this works.

Dear frosty63

I have lots of allergies and this sounds like an allergic reaction to something he has eaten or come into contact with.  Suggest he take a Benadryl (antihistaming) that is sold over-the-counter.  It may make him very sleepy, so best to take at when he will not be driving, etc.

Hope this helps.
