Why do I have spotty skin in areas where my skin peeled after a sunburn?

Hello,

I was in Mexico for a week and the sun was very strong. I wore sunscreen some of the days but some I did not. I normally don't burn easily but I did get a sunburn this time and started peeling on my shoulders. The skin on the spots where I peeled is obviously lighter but it was also very spotty (white spots) and uneven.
Is this a reason for a concern? What is this and why is this appearing? How to treat it?

Thank you so much for your help.
