alcohol and antibiotic cream

Hi there,
Is it safe to comsume alcohol if you're using antibiotic cream/ointment for a skin infection/rash?
My friend asked and I don't know the answer to her question.. ?

you should always read the leaflet that comes with them,if you are still unsure just speak to your doctor

Since the medication is used externally (on the skin), and it isn't taken orally (swallowed), I haven't heard of this causing a problem. I am sure it would be okay.

For a variety of reasons alcohol reduces the immune response.

Bad buggies get badder.

That being said, it's difficult to assess the effect. Don't forget that the antibiotic cream is only supplementing the bodies natural defense systems. There will be some degradion of effectivemess. Whether or not this is significant it impossible to say.

Are you talking about one galss of wine or getting blotto?

It's wise not to drink alcohol if you have any infection.
