When I get on my left knee I have a severe pain on the outside of the leg just below the knee.

See a chiropractor, sounds like your knee cap is out of alignment.
I get that to, my pcp doctor said it is cartilage loss, fancy name medical term but I cannot recall it. Go to your pcp-(primary care physician). Hope that can lead you to a better answer?? peace.
