dilated bile duct

I had a ultrasound and it showed a dilated bile duct. I had my gallbadder out over ten years ago. The reason I had the ultrasound was because when I eat I have pains. Also I have having spasms under my rib cage. I was wonder if after all this time if I could still have a gallstone instead.

Thank you for your comment. Thank you for your response. I was having massive heartburn and was drinking what seemed like gallons of water. I had an Endoscope and found out that I had  Barrett’s esophagus. I was prescribed 60 mg of prilosec.  I took it but my  stomach was still hurting.  That is when they gave me the ultrasound. That is when they found the dilated bile duct. I just don’t understand what it is and how it comes to be.

There are other reasons besides eating that can cause stomach pains. I would talk this over with your physician, and if you haven't already, I would see a gastroenterologist. I would think that you would no longer have gall stones, and if so, they would show up when you had the ultrasound, again, that is a question for the doctor.
