severe thigh cramps

What causes this and how do I treat them

Take extra Potassium, magnesium and calcium, these are all electrolytes and hey can cause the cramping if low. Also, as one poster mentioned, increase your water intake, dehydration can also contribute to this problem.

Most muscle cramps, either calf, thigh or toes are usually caused by lack of potassium (K+)...add a banana a day to your diet & see if this helps.

See if you are low in water consumption...need to drink plenty of water, and also include bananas in your diet for potassium.  Low potassium can cause leg cramps.
