anal bleeding

I think I might have torn my anus last week when I had a very large bowel movement.  I just had a small bowel movement and it didn't hurt, but my anus bled a lot.  Will this heal on it's own or should I go to a doctor?

Relax Megan..I'm about 99.9% sure it's a hemorrhoid. The large BM most likely burst what was already there, thus the flow of blood. If the blood was bright red you'll be fine. However, if it is ever dark, see a GI dr. right away. Be well! :)

Thanks for your answer, that's what I was hoping for!  There's no cramping or pain, so I'll just wait and see.  Thanks very much :)

If the blood was mixed in with the stool, yes go to the doctor. If not, and there's not cramping, it's probably just a fissure. So unless you want pain meds for nothing, I'd wait a few days. :)
