Have you ever been exposed to asbestos?  That can cause the problem you have too as well as what the doctor mentions.

You need to make an appointment and ask your doctor these questions, and what needs to be done about things.

Best wishes.

Hi there,
In pleural thickening there is thickening, calcification and scarring of pleural tissue. The common causes are bacterial pneumonia, tuberculosis, rheumatoid lung disease, injuries, effusion and tumours. If there is no pleural effusion on expiratory lateral decubitus views it is ruled out .It is very useful  for demonstrating small pleural effusions .Are you suffering from any fever, cough ,breathlessness? A clinical correlation of test results is very important. Consult your physician and discuss your concerns. Hope it helps.
Best regards!
