I am not a physician but i just wanted to say that levels to high or to low can be damaging. The body is all about keeping everything in balance! Maybe your diet is causing this, do a search for potassium containing foods and see if you are overloading in  these foods but then on the same hand your body does need potassium so i would not think it would be wish to completely eliminate all  potassium from your diet

Low potasium can be just as dangerous as high potasium. My level dropped to 1.1 last year. Normal is around 5.5. I had to be hospitalized and was in ICU for over a week. It caused an abnormally low heart rate, paralysis, and muscle death. It can also kill if not treated. I would recommend watching your levels closely. I understand that your levels are high, however you want to make sure that you dont overcorrect the problem or you could have just as big of a health risk on your hands.

There are many causes, mostly related to an inability of the body to properly deal with this substance. As your physician what the reason is in your particliar case.

High potasium can cause ventricular irritability and increase the probability of a cardiac event. The heart muscle likes to have potassiun levels within certain defined limits.

Eating lots of certain foods such as bananas can raise potassium levels in susceptible individuals.
