stomach pain

i have been experienceing pain in my stomach fo a very long time, about 2 1/2 - 3 yrs. it is so very random. it can hurt for 3 minutes or 3 days...and sometimes the pains r shap, other times they are a dull pain. it may not come as often for a certain number of months then it may happen a lot for the next few months. it hurts in the midde, lower and side parts of my stomach, it gets so severe sometimes that i go to the emergency room. when it gets really bad i cant stand up straight and it hurts so bad i scream (anyone experiencing this would) i have been to the dr several times.they did an ultrasound and they believed i had sand/dust n my gallbladder . then wen i went to re-check it out they said it wasnt the gallbladder and the didnt know what it was. any ideas?? i dont take any meds and i only drink occasionally-very very seldom

I would recommend you see a Gastroenterologist to rule out a diagnosis for you; 2-3 years is too long to be suffering.

FYI- the sand/dust you were talking about is called sludge.  A gallbladder can fill with this;does look like gritty sand.  It is a combination of bile particles, calcium crystals and cholesterol crystals.  This sludge can turn into stones.

Keep us posted.

same thing with me, i have a number of things wrong with me, but stomach pain is horrible haha. i was to chicken to get an upper endoscopy, and colonoscopy.

maybe you could try that. mine also will go away for a few months then come back full swing..

Have you ever been tested for food allergies or sensitivities? Another option that my friend suffered from for many years before being diagnosed was Crone's disease (not sure of the spelling for that). Both these issues can be very painful and not necessarily occur at every moment.

Is this the only thing they've checked you for, your gallbladder? It sounds like you need more testing. Does this happen after you've ate certain foods? Are you having regular bowel movements? Sorry for all the questions.  Remar
