sudden exertion headaches

I'm a 31 year old female and relatively healthy although I smoke heavily and consume a lot of caffeine. My health concern is for the past week I've had an almost constant very mild headache and if my heart rate elevates with physical activity I get a sudden sharp headache starting in the back of my neck on the right side, traveling along the ride side of my head and ending behind my right eye. The pain will also travel into my right ear and jaw when it's at it's worst. I would say the pain is only severe for about a minute or two but the total headache lasts around an hour.

Hi A, then you must know what you need to do, its just cut out the smoking, but dont go cold turky, just cut down slowly till your on 3 a day then quit, it worked for me 16 years ago and have not smoked since, and I had smoked since the age of 10, now 65, do the same with you coffee drinking.
You just need to get healthy, get out walking early mornings is the best time fresh air will only do you good, and when you have got half way in reducing both coffee and smoking try some gentle jogging as this wll help you quit both, as the more you cut back the further you will start to jog.
Try Taken some Cayenne, mix some in tomato paste, and take 3 times a day, at first mix to a heat that suits you, and when you take wash it down with water before a meal, this will clean you blood and help it flow better, you can google on the big Cayenne site, and some garlic will help as well but try capsules for that.
Good Luck

I'm a smoker, I'm a caffeine drinker and I'm also a chronic migraine sufferer. The headache you are describing is absolutely identical to that of a 'starter' headache of mine. Please, go see your doctor. The best thing I can tell you is, drink more water...at least buy some bottled water and put some sugar in it...just get more water that way. Dehydration causes headaches and is the main culprit! Also, when having a headache like that, please slow down on the smoking. Smoking decreases the amount of oxygen you get to your brain...you wouldn't want to have a stroke. So please, take it from another smoker...slow down. Your body is obviously telling you something :)

Cut down on the smoking and coffee/cokes etc... and just see if that helps...You need to make sure you also drinking loads of water...as caffeine can dehydrate you which can cause all sorts of problems...including headaches.
