typical teenagers or worse?

my 18 yr old son and 13 yr old daughter have started failing in school.  my son has always struggled, but he is a senior and may not graduate.  he has a "whatever" attitude about everything, is cussing alot and gets angry about the smallest thing.  my daughter is being late to school, even though she rides the bus or gets a ride from her grandmother.  she is now getting d's and f's from b's and c's.  she would do better at home one day then the next something else happens.  has no respect for authority (teachers, principle, me, grandmother).  don't know if they need counseling, meds, prayer or ALL three?  I believe in prayer, but sometimes I just want to say "whatever" too!.  They don't seem to care so why should I? I know I should and I do, I'm just frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My 15 yr old seems to be the mediator and he gets upset when the family is in an uproar.  very unhealthy family right now.

Oh bless you.  My three - who are now 22,21 and 20 - went thru the same thing.  Well, the oldest and the youngest.  My daughter is in the middle and was a straight a student, but did have a baby her senior year.  I wish I had an answer for you.  All I can say is pray.  Are they involved in church?  Sometimes a church with an active youth group helps.  I wish you well.

thank you for your suggestions.  I will try to pray more AND get them into counseling.  I need it as well.  My babygirl (19 months) sees and hears all that we do.  Poor baby!
