by a41983, May 13, 2009 05:31PM
I had a still birth in Aug it will be 2 years she had hydrops and multiple problems from down syndrome they said i only had a 1/2 of a one percent chance of having a baby with those problems and i did, should i be scared to have another baby? we had to wait for a week for her to pass, I also have a healthy 6 year old. I had a c-section with him. And how long should i wait after i get off the ring to start trying? One doctor told me i was going to be high risk and another told me it depends on the doctor that i get, one doctor said that the chance of it happening to me again are very slim. we had to go thru 3 diffrent doctors. please help just really scared and want to make the right choices. thank you

I understand your fear, I too lost my child.  He was born with the rare Trisomy 16q+, which is the number one cause of miscarriages.  He wasn't supposed to make it full term, but did.  I had an emergency c-section a month early to only have him for a week.  It's been a real scary time for us as well, there are not alot of cases of what our son had and all the cases we have found have ended in death.  We are still fresh in the loss as it's only been 3 months.  He was our first, my husband and I have been through some genetics tests to see if we are carriers of this disorder, the results just came in clear and normal, so what our son had was just a fluke, a very rare fluke.  I take our loss as a blessing to have him even for just a moment.  Hearing that you have a healthy child, gives me hope that you and I will be able to have other healthy children someday.  I believe that we are given situations to help and grow from them, I am sorry I didn't have an answer to your question of starting again.  But I wanted to let you know that there is someone out there just as scared as you are in making right choices.  Good luck and I truly believe that we will have healthy children someday.

Take Care.
