genetics

My grandson has holocarboxylaise synthetase defeciency, which I understand comes from an autosomal recessive gene.  Im assuming my daughter is a carrier, but does this mean Myself and her father or both also carry this gene and have passed it on.  Also if that is the case could we have passed it on to any other of our children. Thankyou

Hi there!

Yes, being an autosomal recessive trait and one affected child it is likely that both you and your partner are inapparent carriers of the affected gene.
Hope the information is helpful.

Take care!
