On the 16th of November, I received oral sex for many hours and I performed oral sex briefly, for a few seconds. I didn’t think much of it then as I had come to terms that oral sex is no risk for hiv. On the 9th of December (22 days after exposure) I took a VDRL and 4th generation HIV test. Both were negative. I met the same man on the 12th and asked him to get tested in hopes of having sex without any fear. On this very night I also developed severe cough, phlegm, runny nose, uncontrollable shivering, and a fever. The next day, his HIV and syphilis reports came out positive. I was still unwell and slept all day and night. While the fever seems to have reduced, I have mouth ulcers and nighttime sweating in addition to blocked nose and cough. Do you think this could be ARS? How trustworthy was the 4th gen test on December 9th?
