Antibody Timeframes

Just wondering -- about how long after transmission do HIV antibodies become evident in the body? What is the earliest that someone can be tested after a possible exposure?

Yes you need to retest at 3 months post exposure for unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing works with other IV drug abusers.

I had unprotected sex with a woman whose hiv status to me was unknown. This has been about 9 weeks ago.since then I've experenced symptoms that could be hiv related.Night sweats, sore throat and just a general feeling of being unwell.I went to the Dr. about 5-6 weeks after possible expoisure. It took aprox. 10 days to get the results back, they were neg. At this time I took a oral quick test this was also neg. Is there any reason to retest at 12 weeks? Is it possible to have all these symptoms and possibly be hiv pos. and the test results be neg. at this time?
