Any nurses out there to help me with this situation??

Hello...this is my first time asking a question and I would love to hear from real nurses and if they think I am risk.

I am a regular blood donor and I had a strange experience last time I donated. It was the same as always at the beginning. Nurse feels for my vein, makrs the spot, puts on the glove, sanatizes my arm, I turn away and nurse puts the needle in.

Well, the nurse missed my vein. I was looking away so I didn't see it, but she told me. She said she was going to move the needle around. I saw the nurse in the reflection of the window I was looking out of take her glove off and then proceed to move the needle wround without a glove. She couldnt get the vein, the lead came over and got the needle in the vein. When she put my bandage on after it was over, she was not wearing a glove either. What the ????

I know this sounds crazy, I have been racking my brain, I do not want this to over come me, but 2 week after the incident I became very ill. It passed but I cannot get this out of my head.

Here come my crazy question, and I ask not out of paranoid state, but to help me understand and not have me fear going back:

If the nurse was not wearing a glove to move around the needle to find a vein, can I get anything from that if she touched the needle of the hole in my arm??? What if she had blood on her hands? Is it possible?? Has it happened before???

I know, I know, I just saw there were great nurses on here answering questions and I just wanted to get a NURSE'S OPINION.

Thank you very much for your time:)

Thank you ma'am! I guess in your mind (speaking of me) you know it cannot happen, but hearing it from someone in that profession makes it easier.

Now I understand why she took her glove off, I appreciate your help very much:)

I think as a nurse, you are a really nice person to support people like me in your free time. Happy Holidays.

You were not at risk in any way whatsoever.

A nurse wears gloves primarily to protect HERSELF.....and sometimes, even though it is best to always wear gloves.....it is hard to feel for a vein with gloves on, which is why I'm guessing the nurse took her gloves off.

Again.....the gloves are to protect the healthcare worker......you were not at risk.
