Dental exposure?

It's on the news that Oklahoma dentist had exposed 7000 patients with HIV. I just had my teeth cleaned 2 months ago in San Francisco, would I be concerned about possible reused dental equipment on me and go for a test?

Had you read the follow up, the only thing those people were actually at risk for was HBV and HCV.

So what I've learned about the virus is that unsterilized dental equipment is not really a concern for HIV since the virus is fragile. Therefore was the requirement for hiv testing of the patients in Oklahoma truly necessary?
