HIV test

Hi doctors, thanks for your help! For my situation, I have figured out that oral sex has no hiv risk.  What I want to consult now is about my friend who had unprotected vaginal sex.  So she took pep and tested 6 weeks after completion of pep.  Negative.  But unfortunately she tested positive for syphilis in the first few weeks.  So some doctors advised her to retest hiv in 6 months. Such a long time makes her very anxious. On her behalf, I wondered if syphilis would affect HIV testing.  Can hiv be ruled out for a total of 10 weeks?

Syphilis does not change the testing time or window period.  If your friend has additional questions, she will need to post here herself. We don't provide extensive responses by proxy.
