Heartburn and ARS seroconversion

I was discouraged not to take 4-week test and i'm starting to regret it a bit.  I feel like my health is quickly deteriorating and I wanted to hear from you experts who have been around hiv+ persons. My exposure was unprotected sex about 8mins and this was about 4.5 weeks ago. Is heartburn or inflammation of the chest area common during serconversion?  I've experienced numerous symptoms but they have all subsided. All I'm experiencing now is this constant heartburn which has lasted for the past 3 days.  Initial symptoms started 10 hours after possible exposure.  Everyone i've spoken to claims ARS couldn't occur so quick.

I'm coming to the terms with the fact that I might just have it... I'm getting tested once I get back from the holidays... Any comments would be appreciated.

Your questions are not going to be answered because they are symptom related questions and we don't talk about symptoms because they tell you nothing.

Talk with your Dr about your thyroid.

And again post in the anxiety forum or seek a therapist. This forum is risk assestment and limited to that. Other forums and people are designed to help you through anxiety with things.

Question for all, until I get tested all I can do is ask ?'s. Pls don't take any offense. I have 2 questions:  Recently got a call from the clinic where I did my blood work saying I have an abnormal thyroid, does this have anything to do with HIV? Is it common if I was indeed infected to  still be feeling inflamed 6 weeks after possible exposure? I keep feeling this burning sensation from time-to-time between my back and sometimes in my abdomen.

Thanks, any answers would be appreciated.

Any responses?? can hiv be transmitted by the rubbing of the penis against the vagina without penetration? thats the only other time i could have been possibly infected if this guy indeed has HIV.  I know I'v been a nuisance with my questions but this is forum is all I have till I get tested in 2 weeks.

I'm back again lol well not to annoy you guys but I have another question.  Ever since all of this started, I've been working my way back to see if there was other exposures.  A week before the unprotected sex, there was frottage and deep kissing between me and this guy.  No penetration but frottage.  Can hiv transmit this way?

The anxiety forum is a better place to help you at this point. This is why I had suggested it.

Vance, I apologize if I'm ranting and asking the same questions.  Its just this has been my only outlet and place to get advice since all of this started.  I had asked my partner to wear a condom and when I wasn't paying attention, he took it off and I made him stop when I realized he wasn't wearing the condom.  I understand this is not a counseling site and I cannot be diagnosed here but this is the only place I can come for answers.  I hope you understand.  I get tested on the 10th and I'll post my results then.  I apologize again for my excessive posting.

Try the anxiety forum, this forum can not be of anymore help at this time to you. You keep posting the same thing over and over again. You are at risk of being reported for excessive posting.

Pls experts, I would go to the doctor but I'm currently away and I don't even have health insurance.  They say everyone reacts differently to the virus.  Some violently and others show no signs at all.  Parts of my body have been feel inflamed since all of this started and I honestly can't wait to get back and get tested.  My lower back feels inflamed so does my forehead and the heartburn is still sporadic.  Is this in any way related to hiv?

Please try to understand that your symptoms are not due to ARS and nothing you add will change that. Get tested at the 3 month mark and stop guessing about your status.

Pls try and understand that The abdominal inflammation started before I became anxious.  I became anxious when the fever kicked in and I started looking up symptoms of hiv.

AGAIN -

Your symptoms are not due to ARS but they are likely due to anxiety. ARS symptoms start 2-4 weeks after exposure and last 1-2 weeks. Symptoms come on all at once.

I'm taking a rapid anti-body blood test and not the the PCR DNA.  If its not hiv, idk what else it could be.  I've always been healthy until the day after the possible exposure.  The first symptom was abdominal inflammation and not a sore throat or even a rash. If it was sore throat, then I would have never ended up on this site or even thought of HIV because I was just recovering from a sore throat the week before.  Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping its not hiv but I'm trying to accept my reality.  The fever which lasted for 5 days also began 4 days after possible exposure.  Is this still too early to be considered ARS?

ARS can never start within hours, that is proven scientific fact. ARS are symptoms from the body after the infection has started to take place. No infection STD, colds, flu, or HIV can take place within hours.

Even your 7 week test is not going to be conclusive so if it happens to be positive doesn't mean it is conclusive and certainly will not mean that ARS started within hours because it can't.

Pls bear with me Vance I don't mean to be stubborn or to have a defeated attitude.  So whatever that has happened to me in the past 5 weeks couldn't possibly be ars?  The doc said my protein is slightly high and this is only pointing towards one direction.  I get tested on my 7th week mark which is jan 10th and if things turn out bad, then you have a clear case where ars can start in hours.

You are going way over board and would encourage you to start posting in the anxiety forum. This forum does not discuss symptoms because they are general and non-specific and are meaningless in the scope of things.

You were told when ARS happens and how long it lasts.

Teak, pls answer. As a person living with HIV, do you normally get abdominal inflammation?  Given that you work in the field of hiv prevention, have you ever seen someone start experiencing ars within hours after possible exposure?

After a person seroconverts, do all the symptoms go away or they just remain persistent till one starts taking anti-viral drugs?

Thanks Nick. I really want to believe that but the deadly thing about this disease is its non-specificity.  I've tested for every std and came out (-). Had blood work done everything came out fine but the doc said my protein is slightly high... I'm guessing that's what's been causing my inflammation.  Not sure what to make of this but I guess only a test would tell me my status.  I made my partner get tested and he came out (-) but my fear is that he still in the window period as well.  I have a swollen node on my right neck.  Everything else that I thought was swollen, my doctor confirmed they weren't and she advised me not to worry about hiv.  Honestly, I'm petrified to get tested but this is something I must do.

To your main question - Heartburn is NOT a symptom of ARS

You will need to be tested for HIV from the exposure you have described a test at 6-8 weeks post exposure will give you a GREAT indication of your status but make sure you follow up at the 3 month mark for a conclusive result.

Your risk is low from a single exposure, But a risk is a risk. Get tested and stop guessing
