How great is my risk for HIV transmission from one exposure?

On April 18, during my first and only male to male contact, a guy (without my permission) pushed himself inside me all the way with no lubrication or condom. I yelled for him to stop and he did immediately, and that was the end of the encounter. While I was (and am) upset at what took place, I didn't give much thought to whether there might be repercussions.

Several days later, my rectum began to hurt really badly and I passed bloody tissue in a couple of stools. Having dealt with mild hemorrhoids before, I went to the doctor and was treated for that. Around April 29, I became ill with fever, chills, night sweats and body aches, which lasted until May 3. I'm now feeling pretty much 100% aside from continued swelling in my rectum and hemorrhoid issues.

I went to get tested for HIV and other assorted STDs yesterday but am waiting for the results with no idea how great my risk for infection may have been. I'd love to get some of your thoughts.

You has an unprotected receptive anal exposure, therefore your risk does exist. We can not quantify the risk however it may not be significant but not zero either.

The only way to rule out the possibility, get yourself tested for HIV Duo (Antibody+Antigen) test after 28 days of exposure, collect your conclusive report and move on with your life. Next time, never ever unprotected contact with anyone, outside your mutually committed 100% monogamous relationship

Thanks, diver. Just received a negative result on a rapid test. While I recognize that this doesn't completely rule out the possibility of infection, does it have any impact on what my chances are of being clean on that test at 28 days?

Your test is reassuring but not conclusive, however it should give you good confidence and comfort. Either you repeat it after 12 weeks (from the day of your exposure) or get a 4th generation Duo test done anytime now to collect your conclusive report
