You never had a risk to begin with and you didnt not need any test at the first place however for some one with a REAL risk (unlike yours) 82 days is conclusive cuz that's equal to 12 weeks
You are HIV negative, guaranteed
Who cares. Go live in the real world for a minute. It's fantastic. I still am going to test at 12 weeks (2.5 to go, sheesh). If in the extremely statistically unlikely chance I've seroconverted between week 8 and then, I'll at least have had my last negative days having fun. That being said, I'm sure I'll be posting or checking here a couple more times, hah
G'night peek, Teak, and even you, dummy.
You people keep reporting things. Report that the reply # is not going past 6. Theres like 20 replys in the thread.
My glasses broke last week during the tire changing incident, too.
I've also begun peeing my pants a little bit from all the coughing.
I'm going to drink a little now. I'll feel better, I'm sure.
ROFL, you can't win for losing. Look out for a busted radiator hose next. :)
THere are way more than 6 replies in this thread. Why the hell does the reply # stop at 6. Who can you report that to?
I just read Mavericks post and became more angry than scared. This Dr. H and some of the other experts swear you don't get it from certain things and now Mav has it. And then how some people respond to Mav like he's a liar, I know wont believe me if I have it. I assure you I know the person that gave it to me. And if I got it I either got it from 2 places. THe girl I fingered or the girl I had protected sex with. I don't wont to hear about odds either. Life is just not fair sometimes.
And on an unrelated note, my washer is broken. Pneumonia, asthma, broken washer...*knits brows together darkly*...It's a conspiracy. That many things can't be a coincidence.
AND I had a flat tire last week.
--Mamabear, signing out for the day--
Jag, I rarely go to that forum. I have my doubts about Mavericks post for this reason among others. (forgive me if you've heard this 10,000 times before).
My husband has HepC. He got it via IV drug use probably 20-30 years ago. However, when he was diagnosed, he was an upstanding citizen and engineer of some note. He outright LIED to the doctor, denied any past history of drug use, and insisted he got it during sex somehow.
HepC really isn't considered a sexually transmitted disease, but as my husband doesn't look or seem like anyone who has ever used drugs, I'm sure he was marked down as one of the "rare" ones who aquired HepC sexually. That's how statistics go awry.
And I know for a fact he lied about it. He's told the story to so many doctors now that even HE believes it, and will become enraged if anyone so much as hints he may have ever used drugs.
He even denies now, to ME, that he ever used drugs. And I know he's used drugs. He knows I know. He can't even look at me in the face when he says it.
So you have to take an anonymous internet forum poster with a healthy dose of skepticism. You don't even know I'm a nurse, for that matter. I say I am...but you don't know, do you? I'd hope someone wouldn't eff around saying they had HIV via making out in a bar...but weird things happen on the internet all the time.
The Maverick74 post freaked me out. Thank you, mamabear.
Not if your only exposure was oral. You don't even need to test at all after that. Just once a year is fine.
Look. Anyone can start to notice symptoms if they are worried enough about a particular event or problem. If I sat down right now and catalogued every strange "symptom" of something I have, I'd probably go off the deep end with worry and fear.
Peekawho's 1st Rule of Thumb: Anything bad, will eventually get bad enough to announce it's presence without a doubt. If something is so obscure that a doctor or doctors can't even detect it, you will probably not die from it. If it's bad, it'll get worse.
Chronic post nasal drips, red dots, a spot by the fingernail....they are part and parcel of the experience of being a human being. You will not die from any of them. They don't have to "mean" anything.
Peeks 2nd Rule of Thumb: What you concentrate on, you get more of. Concentrate on your dizzy feelings, your itching, your spotty tongues...and I guarantee they will get worse.
I try to ignore most things. If they don't get worse and I don't die, I figure its just one of those minor odd things that happen to us. I live sensibly, eat relatively right, don't smoke, drink a little, and figure there isn't much to be done about the rest. If I were having sex with something that didn't require batteries, I'd be safe there, too.
That's just my philosophy. Life's short enough as it is to worry so much about the small stuff. And though it seems huge to most of you right now, trust me...Oral, protected intercourse, fingering, monitor cables tickling your hemmies...as it relates to HIV, it shouldn't even be on your radar to worry about.
So peek, if we are having strange "symptoms" from oral, see the doc, like I did, if they're not concerned, don't be. Don't even need to test past my 8 wks neg except for peace of mind? Arggh. I can't win.
Your test will not change. 82 days is virtually the same as 90 days. There is no magic "CLICK" change of status. If you were negative then, you'll be negative on July 5th.
And if you only had oral, you didn't really need testing to begin with. It is impossible and unwise to get this upset if you plan on remaining a sexual being.
Sexually active, non manogamous people should test once a year, and NOT after a single incident unless it is very high risk with a known positive person. Oral is NOT high risk. Its very, very low risk.
You have wasted 3 months of your life crying about something you don't have. Post nasal drip?? The least likely thing on earth to cause post nasal drip is HIV. Literally a thousand other things would be far more likely. Sometimes you never know why something happened.
I came down with bilateral pneumonia last week. Is there a why or a how? *shrugs shoulders*
It was just one of those things. Sh*t happens, man.
Relax. You'll be fine.
I'm in the same boat right now. But you are essentially passed 12 weeks. I was in SE Asia where subtype E lives and apparently takes longer to detect (via antibodies) and is a lot more prevalent within certain parts of a woman (leading me to believe going down was my exposure).
dude hear me:
you've had all sympthoms ok?fever ecc.ecc.
When a person have all sympthoms his test come Positive, because into the body it's start the sieroconversion.
You've a test negative at 82 days.
82 days or 90 days are the same things.
Take a test at 90 days for the doctors and for YOURS anxiety.
Later, after a 90 days negative test and a oral sex as exposure(that's low risk), move on and go to beach or to play basket.
he keeps telling me I have a cold since May, i'm like a cold? they don't last this long and they don't cause so many symptoms like diarrhea and muscle ache etc....I don't know where to go...I'll have to ask him to refer me to a throat specialist...I have to take my HIV test this thursday for the 3 months, if I'm negative, I'm going to be the happiest man on earth, but i'll have to find the reason why I got so sick with allllllll the HIV symptoms and then suffering from infection in the mouth during the window period it doesn't make sense to me.
The thing with maverick74 really creeps me out.
negative at 82 days is negative! God answered your prayer bro! Now its up to you to accept it.
get rid of your anxiety and your symptoms will probably go away too.
And someone just tested positive for oral (receiving - my risk along with my other, going down on a girl). This is too much for me.
Dude, I'm only 8 weeks neg. I feel the exact same way though. My main concerns are a bit of geo tongue within a week of incident (although not as serious as what I've seen on the net), itchiness all over for a few weeks, some tiny red dots randomly disperesed (although they do blanch, for the most part), and an infection next to my finger nail (candida? staph? went away after some puss within a week). 2 docs said not to worry, but I know something has to be going on, this ain't normal. I'm sure you're fine...have you asked a doc about another possible cause of your symptoms?
they told me I have to get tested at 90 days to be conclusive that I don't have HIV. I have postnal drip, a dry mouth, bitter taste, its just not me, I keep having symptoms, I don't wanna have them, they are present for a reason. I had all the HIV symptoms already...I don't know what to do, I should've done the PCR test from the beginning....i'm going crazy
I had oral sex back in april, and I started experiencing strong mucle ache, a fever like something attacking me inside of me, diarrhea, now I have a sore throat, dry mouth, and my doctor said I have a postnasal drip, mucus on the back on my throat, and my throat looks crack like some infection, I feel dirty, like something is not right...I know I caught HIV, the guy says he's negative but why will I experience all the HIV symptoms, Its too late I know I have it.
yeah, I did have a geographic tongue, no red spots or rash anything like that.
