Outside the body

Hi all, your answers to my posts have been reassuring. All informed that HIV begins to die outside the body. However, I am concerned over this post

"While the moisture content of bodily fluids would slow down the degradation of the virus outside of the human body, it's not enough to facilitate transmission outside of that 60 second window"

http://www.****.com/Forums/AIDS/SafeSex/Q225229.html

The time it took for the CSW to contaminate the condom and put it on my penis can be lesser than a minute. Hence, i am afraid HIV in vaginal secretions could not have been degraded. Please clear my doubt thanks.

As soon as it is exposed to air. You never had an exposure.

Hi Teak,

Thank you. But can the virus be degraded in seconds. It takes some time for it to be deactivated right?

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child
