by Emily_MHModerator,
And to clarify, it is this site's stance, based on studies and our own MedHelp experts (all of whom are world-renowned for their work in this field), that oral sex carries no risk for HIV.

Like I said your doctor is a quack and doesn't know the first thing about HIV or it's transmission. You might want to consider this. * Any member who creates a second nickname will immediately be banned and have any subsequent nicknames banned.
Hi Teak just wanted to give an update went to regular Dr he told me to contine with combivir if I keep feeling bAd he could change to truvad he said CDC recommend this cause its low risk he said cause of membrains. I will focus on what you have shared with me. He also told me to do a test after three months. My body feels a little better earlier I thought I was going to die now just super tired. Thank you for being here
You shouldn't have been given it in the first place.
Thanks Teak called my regular Dr office made an appointment but they told me to call other Dr first to see what he suggests since they are not too familiar with it. I really don't think I can do this therapy for another 28 days I have never felt so bad in my entire life
Thanks I think I might go to er I have never felt like this It feels like worse flu ever
Find a new doctor. Your doctor is a quack. You never had an exposure and didn't meet the guidelines for nPEP.
What about side effects? •Bone marrow problems, such as decreased production of red blood cells and/or white blood cells, can occur in people talking Retrovir, one of the two active drugs in Combivir. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop unusual fatigue, pale skin, sore throat, fever, or chills, which may be signs of bone marrow problems.
•A rare but potentially serious side effect of Retrovir, one of the two drugs in Combivir, is myopathy (damage to the muscles, including the heart). People who use Retrovir for a long period of time, meaning several years, are at the greatest risk for myopathy. General symptoms of myopathy include weakness of limbs, usually proximal (located close to the center of the body).
• Lactic acidosis, which can be fatal, and severe liver problems have been reported in people taking nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), including Retrovir and Epivir, the two active drugs in Combivir. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience nausea, vomiting, or unusual or unexpected stomach discomfort; weakness and tiredness; shortness of breath; weakness in the arms and legs; yellowing of the skin or eyes; or pain in the upper stomach area.
•HIV drug regimens containing nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), including Combivir, can cause increased fat levels (cholesterol and triglycerides) in the blood, abnormal body-shape changes (lipodystrophy; including increased fat around the abdomen, breasts, and back of the neck, as well as decreased fat in the face, arms, and legs), and diabetes. These side effects of HIV drug therapy are reviewed in our lessons on Lipodystrophy, Facial Lipoatrophy, and Risks To Your Heart (Hyperlipidemia).
• If you have hepatitis B and HIV and plan to stop taking Combivir, your doctor might want to frequently check your liver enzymes after stopping treatment. This is because the Epivir in Combivir is also active against the hepatitis B virus (HBV). If Epivir is stopped abruptly, it can cause liver disease to "flare" and damage the liver.
No dr said it would be hard on tummy but its like I can't function or eat and feel like I'm dying
Did you bother to read the side effects.
Thanks Teak can this pill cause awful feelings nausea fatigue
Whatever is wrong with you has nothing to do with HIV.
I decided to start the camabir Monday I have been so sick already can't eat body is so wore down and I am now starting to get a swollen and tender gland under my jaw. I appreciate this site but everyone I have talked to dr therapist have stated there was risk since I did not know he seemed to cum somewhat and he is Mia. I don't know what to do I feel so tired and my body is starting to hurt so bad. Is there something I should be watching for am I going to keep getting worse I'm so sorry if I am. Bothering but my concerns are real
That is oral sex. No risk.
Thanks Teak one last concern if the oral was him pushing it inside my throat would that be a concern or is that still consider oral thank you
You are not at risk, so kindly move along.
Still so worried is everyone in board Ino risk of hiv
So No risk for HIV ? And no need for Combiriv?
Ok Good. I have been sitting hear calling every pharmacy to find it. HE just said that risk be safer than anal sex and that the guy who had swollen glands on one side of his groin ( who I was preforming on) prob was infection with something. And that He needed me to start to that pill and gave me a shot for gonorrhea and a pill for chamdia and said the biggest worry was the HIV since I did not know him and he came in my mouth and had the gland issue ... why do we do these things oh the regret . Happy for people like you to help
You don't need it for oral sex. I take it your doctor knows nothing about HIV and its transmission.
