Pleasure !!!! Congratulations too :)
James
Hey, just wanted to let you know guys that everything was negative! :) Thanks a lot for all your help and support! :)
Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience! Ive looked up your previous posts regarding your problem. Yeah, the worst part for me indeed was looking up online as well, especially when I saw (even on medhelp forum) that there actually is some chance to get infected if pre-cum would get into contact with an open sore?!
Im glad that everything went well in your case, hope that you have recovered by now from the stress and that you've gone back to your normal life. I am getting my 28 days finger prick test tomorrow, so we will see how it goes ;)
Ok, I live as well in a Western European country, hope they use also the 4th generation finger prick test :) its just that I called them and one of the volunteers told me that a duo test would be accurate after 4 weeks, and the finger prick after 8, thats why Im still a bit worried.. but we´ll see tomorrow anyways..
Well, won't take your time anymore, just want to thank you once again for all the support. You will hear from me tomorrow, with the results! Greets!
Hi there I am in a similar situation
I have made a post few weeks ago now.
I met a guy and he made me bleed.
he did not use a condom
I contacted Chlamydia which made me even more worried
I was in such a bad state that I was making myself even more ill,
ended up in hospital as had fast heart beats and skipping beats etc through stress.
Had a test at 4 weeks and both negative duo test
But I have had a 5 week rapid test and was negative
4g blood test results due early this week
I looked so much on the web and wish I did not now, as my mind keeps bringing up symptoms, when I know I am fine, thinking about 1 of the symptoms can lead you thinking or even having this.
You will be ok mate,
good luck
you can check my post which loads of people supported me and been great if you search my name on the community list
Good work fella!
Put it this way, when I had the 4th Gen point of care finger prick test three years ago, the private Dr said it was conclusive and that was at 27 days!
These tests are so acurate, they look for the bodies response to the virus which is an antibody but also the virus too, a part called the p24 Antigen.
I am certain yours will be Negative buddy.
Best wishes
James :)
Oh, I didn't know that, thanks! I will do the finger prick test tomorrow, and during the week the blood one as well just to be sure.
And James... you rule! ;)
Hi there.
You do it need to wait three months any more, the cdc have ven updated their guidelines too.
Do the finger prick test but also get a blood test with a 4th generation test, it will be as accurate as a 3 month antibody test.
Don't let yourself live with worry for three i ths when you don't need to.
I look forward to reading about your negative result tomorrow.
Best Wishes
James
Thank you so so much for such a quick response, you have no idea how much it means!
I will go in that case for the finger-prick tomorrow still, as the NGO dealing with HIV where I usually go for testing provides only the finger-prick test, and will for sure do a follow-up test after three months. But as there is a 99% reliability with the finger-prick test after 28 days, I´ll be more calm until the three months test.
Thanks once again for your response, and sorry for bothering, I will post my results tomorrow for sure after the finger-prick test.
Best regards!
The finger prick test is over 99% accurate at 28 days although the blood test is the best one to go for, most clinics will offer both at the same time.
In terms of other STD's it is possible that you could have caught one, that is not my exact field so I would just wait for your results, they are easy to treat.
These other std's can be spread without penetrative sex so I would not say it increases your chances at all, I full expect your result to come back Negative I really do :)
Jeep strong, you will be just fine :)
James
Dear James,
Tomorrow is the 28th day post exposure, but I had few more questions in the light of recent (worrying) events.
Some 20 days after the exposure I started developing nausea and an urge to vomit, followed by strong pain in the lower part of the stomach and in the rectal area, as well as itching and in the end blood and yellow pus when going to the toilet. I suspected instantly it was gonorrhea as I had it once before, I went to get tested for that as well and waiting for the results, but in the meanwhile I received a cyprofloxacine treatment as I couldn't stand the pain and discomfort, and the symptoms disappeared the next days (so I assume it mustve been gonorrhea or chlamydia)?
Assuming that I did catch gonorrhea, is that increasing my risks that I might have contracted HIV as well in my previous exposure that I have described above?
And just one last thing in the end, I know you wrote that I should get a DUO test after 28 days, but how reliable would be a finger-prick test on the 28th days? As I really can't wait a day longer for the results, the anxiety is killing me.
Thank you very much, regards.
You're welcome.
We look forward to reading details of your Negative test result at 28 days :)
Best Wishes.
James
Thank you very much for your quick reply James. I will for sure come back with an update after 28 days.
Thank again,
Have a nice weekend!
Well you are doing the right thing by getting tested, a 4th a Generation Duo/combo test will be conclusive at 28 days post your risk.
Your symptoms are not in the right time not in keeping with those nor the timings of HIV ars.
You have many many things on your side to say that you will be negative at 28 days, also you do not know if this guy even has HIV.
Appreciate this us stating the obvious but always make sure that Condoms are used throughout Ansl / Vaginal sex, oral sex carries no risk regardless of pre cum.
I am sure you will be okay, just get your 4 week test under your belt.
Just for info, the a Duo/combo test looks for both the Atibodies to HIV and also a part of the virus itself, try not to google too much in things and just get to your test date.
Do come back and let us know how you get on, there is every single chance that you will be HIV Negative.
Best Wishes
James
