Stiff neck and light headache

about 8 weeks ago I had a anal sex with a female prostitute and the condom broke, I realised it broke about 15-20sec in to it and I immidiately stopped.

72 hours later I was on PEP which I completed without any major symptoms, 1 week after completing the PEP treatment I got a stiff neck (lower back of neck) with a mild but consistent heache... a bit like when you sleep too much. My GP said that it might be from stree but it's not been like this for 3 weeks and I am begining to worry that it is more serious.

I dont have a fevel, or swolen glands there's no rashes or any other symptoms.

Could this be a sign of HIV?

Please help as I am going crazy!!!

Thanks Drew, I appriciate the response... I have my first test at the end of April but I'm going crazy with stress and I'm tempted to just go and get a test before that one (I'll still do that one too but I just need to hear that I'm not positive!)

hey, i feel your pain dude. i recently had a terrible scare myself after having sex in las vegas and my condom breaking. i had EVERY symptom, diarrhea, oral thrush, fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat, joint pain, weakness, and i lost 15 pounds. im feeling a little better after my 6 week post exposure test came back negative, chances are... my symptoms were stress related. although i will still go get another test at the 3 month mark to be sure. if your worried, go get tested. its that easy, and will be a huge relief if your negative. most of the websites you find information about the window period of hiv use outdated information. the new tests they have are in all reality about 90% accurate at 6 weeks and 95-97% accurate at 8 weeks. the average time for antibodies to reach a detectable level is 25 days. my doctor informed me that in 8 years he has NEVER seen a person test negative at the 6 week mark and later find out he was actually positive. he also said that he has seen in NUMEROUS occcasions people test positive at the 4 week mark. all in all, i would say you have a 1 in 100 chance of having hiv. go get tested now, and again in 3 months. good luck
