hiv symptons and detecting rare hiv strains

I have worrying hiv symptons that I cannot get relief or a diagnosis. How can I detect the rare hiv strains that are causing my symptons.

1) which tests detect such strains

2) can the strains lie dormant and undetectable on tests.

Please help and advise

Yes 100% right. Your immune systems went low not because of HIV because of your anxiety.  Get counseling.

See a Dr to discuss symptoms, nothing to do with HIV

Hi BB,

As it was a black African sex worker, the exposure may have been to HIV-2.

The Duo test tests for HIV-1 antigen, and antibodies for HIV-1 & HIV-2.

So, with your negative DUO results out to 2 years, it would would certainly appear that you have tested conclusively negative to HIV.

Other than warts, which other symptoms do you have?

I have developed four finger warts now and worried this is due to low immune system.

PCR is a viral load test it can detect subtypes A through G. Not really the right test to take. Use a DUO 28 days post exposure or straight antibody test at 6-8 weeks.

HIV detection is not based on their strains.

Oh. I asked if you had a recent exposure. If that was your last exposure, then you have tested negative successfully. Symptoms do not define presence of HIV. HIV infection is detected by a test, under no circumstances will the virus be in your body for years and your blood test wont show a positive result so dormancy does not work here without showing your results positive.

Hi.
Thanks for the reply.
I have had around 10 hiv duo tests over 2 years negative but have ongoing symptons.

Hi, your exposure comes under the risk factors for HIV. You will have to do a 4th generation Antigen/Antibody duo test for HIV1/2 after 28 days. If your lab does not offer this, then a standard antibody test at 12 weeks would be conclusive.

Hi, we would first like to know what was your exposure that is making you think you might have infected with HIV? This will help us answer better.
